International Tourist Guide Day 2009

Before the lights go out – come on down, walk and explore Toronto’s Underground City - PATH - with us.

On Saturday, March 28th the lights will go out, but only in celebration of Earth Hour between 8:30 - 9:30 PM. We are planning a marvelous event during that morning and we really need the lights on for that.

The members of the CTGA are thrilled to invite everyone who is interested to our annual celebration of International Tourist Guide Day. This free of charge-event is celebrated all over the world by members of tour guide associations in order to promote local tourism and the efforts of professional tourist guides.

After carefully planning and researching, we have come up with a unique walking tour that will tingle –
not your feet - but your minds, because you will learn about a few extra tidbits of interest regarding Toronto’s PATH. It’s the stories that you don’t read about and sights you might not have known were waiting to awe you.

The PATH is not just about connecting offices and out-of-the-rain shopping possibilities. Follow us and experience 90 minutes of art, history and architecture. It’s not going to be all underground though:

Look up at a waterfall, inside a bank? Watch 7 cows enjoying a rest on the pasture, downtown?
Feel be-dazzled by a crystal galleria; raise a salute to the Wise Men of Commerce and be humbled by the three resident queens at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Furthermore, there is this outstanding hidden gem - the Inuit Art Gallery.

We would love to welcome you at 10 AM in the concourse (lower) level, in Brookfield Place, Toronto. We will be in front of Bagel Stop in Zone E.

Don’t worry if you can’t be there at 10 AM – our tours will leave every 15 minutes, so catch the next one between 10-11 AM.

Brookfield Place connects to Union Station via the underground PATH Walkway system.
There is also underground parking with entrances/exits located on Front Street and Wellington Street. You can also use the Bay Street entrance and go down.

See the right hand column for a map  of Brookfield Place. We will meet and start our walking tour in front of The Bagel Stop, lower level.

Well, we hope to see you there. Don’t let another cold winter day keep you from enjoying our great city.
