March 21, 2006 was proclaimed International Tourist Guide Day in Toronto by Mayor David Miller. An enlarged copy of the Proclamation was on view in the rotunda of Metro Hall.

Brigitta Gamm, our current President (2007-2009), was Chair of the Committee which staged the International Tourist Guide Day program. Here she takes the mike to talk to our guests.

Guides Keith, Albertine, Suzanne, Linda and Regula pose at the table where a computer display and photos helped explain the programs of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations and CTGA of Toronto.

Jim Toms (left), an earlier President, with Guide Berry prepares to lead our first group of participants in the free tours to their coach.

The first load of tour participants board their coach. Avelino da Souza (far left) assisted John McCarthy, coach coordinator for the day. Jim Toms, in white jacket,  and Felix Shuster coordinated guides on tours  throughout the day.

Guide Berry takes the microphone as she prepares to launch the first tour commentary of the day.

Guide Suzanne is seen talking to two of our guests about tour guiding and our association in the rotunda of Metro Hall. Suzanne coordinated guide staff within Metro Hall.

Guides Keith and Dorothy flank Brigitta Gamm in discussion with one of our guests.

Guides Janine and Trudy on the left with fellow guides Doug and Heather. Doug gave a step-on tour to a seniors' home group who brought their own coach. Heather took the largest of the day's tour groups.

Keeping it tidy, new member Terese organizes a display of brochures and flyers.

Another display.

This display explained that our members, in many cases, are also tour directors or managers for long trips as well as working as local guides.

Teresa Archibald and  Brigitta Gamm pose before a section of display which featured our International Tourist Guide Day events in previous years.

You didn't have to be a "big" person to enjoy International Tourist Guide Day. Our youngest participants are seen about to board their coach.
