World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations

The Canadian Tour Guide Association of Toronto is proud to be a member of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA).

Through WFTGA we are associated with other member organizations from Switzerland to Singapore. No matter where we are from, it is surprising how much we have in common to discuss with other guides. There are numerous issues on which we can work together.

Aims

The aims of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations are:

bullet

to establish contact with tourist guide associations throughout the world and to reinforce their professional ties,

bullet

to represent professional tourist guides internationally and to promote and protect their interests,

bullet

to enhance the image of the profession,

bullet

to promote a universal code of ethics and skills,

to raise, encourage and establish the highest standards of professionalism,

bullet

to develop international training, and improving the quality of guiding through education,

to facilitate the exchange of information among members.

WFTGA Conventions

The WFTGA holds a biennial convention at which members can join in meaningful discussion to resolve common issues. The conventions give tour guides from many different countries opportunities to learn as well as to get acquainted with their peers in a relaxed environment. To learn more, please visit our WFTGA Conventions page.

International Tourist Guide Day

The WFTGA's member associations make a special effort to raise the profile of their profession around the world on International Tourist Guide Day, February 21st each year.
